Client testimonials
A selection of client feedback from recent engagements — records reviews, appeal matters, and stewardship support.
Rozita Hamdan
Retired teacher, Petaling Jaya
"I had been receiving what seemed like a reduced pension payment for two years without understanding why. After the records review at Tiang Law, the reason was clear — and there were contributions that had not been correctly reflected. The written summary made it straightforward to understand. They were never pushy about next steps."
May 2025 · Pension Records Review
Krishnamoorthy Subramaniam
Retired civil servant, Kuala Lumpur
"The appeal took longer than I hoped — about four months in total — but I was told that upfront and the timeline turned out to be accurate. Nurul kept me informed throughout. The correspondence with the pension board was handled entirely by the firm, which was a relief. I wouldn't have known how to navigate those forms."
April 2025 · Appeal Representation
Lim Mei Shan
Approaching retirement, Shah Alam
"I came in before retirement because I wasn't sure my EPF records were in order. The review was straightforward — they found one discrepancy in an employer contribution from several years ago and explained how to address it. The fee was clearly stated beforehand, which I appreciated. No surprises."
May 2025 · Pension Records Review
Abdul Talib bin Yusof
Retired military officer, Klang
"My LTAT pension had been delayed for months after retirement and I had no idea how to push it forward. Tiang Law took on the matter under the Stewardship Package. They dealt with the authority entirely — I only had to sign documents. When the delay was finally resolved, they explained exactly what had happened and why."
March 2025 · Stewardship Package
Noraini Ibrahim
Widow of former civil servant, Subang Jaya
"After my husband passed, I was trying to understand his pension entitlement and whether I was receiving what I should. The records review showed two issues that were worth pursuing. I found the whole process very calm — nothing was rushed and I was given time to ask questions."
April 2025 · Pension Records Review
Chan Jun Wei
Early retiree, Bangsar
"My EPF withdrawal had been partially denied without a clear reason given by the fund. The appeal representation service sorted it out within three months. The lawyer explained the legal basis clearly and I felt informed throughout. A bit of a waiting game but that's the nature of dealing with institutions."

Client journeys in more detail
A closer look at three matters that illustrate how our services work in practice.
Challenge
A retired school administrator in Kuala Lumpur had noticed that her monthly pension payment seemed lower than expected but had no way of checking whether the amount was correct. She had been receiving the payment for three years and had never received a breakdown.
What we did
We carried out a full records review, cross-referencing her contributory service record against her current payment. The review identified a period of approved leave that had been incorrectly excluded from the pension calculation. We prepared and submitted a formal correction request to the relevant authority.
Outcome
The correction was accepted within eight weeks. Her monthly payment was adjusted accordingly, and an arrears calculation was issued covering the period of underpayment. Total engagement: approximately three months from first records review to final resolution.
"I had no idea the mistake was there. The written summary made it entirely clear and I knew exactly what was being corrected."
Challenge
A retired officer had applied for a partial EPF withdrawal to fund a medical expense. The application was declined on the basis that the supporting documentation did not meet the fund's criteria — a decision he believed was incorrect given the documents he had submitted.
What we did
We reviewed the original application, the rejection letter, and the EPF's documentary requirements. We identified the specific gap in the submission and assembled a complete revised package with the required supplementary documentation and a formal letter of appeal addressed to the EPF appeals division.
Outcome
The appeal was accepted and the withdrawal was processed within approximately two months of the revised submission. The client was kept informed at each stage of the EPF's review process and did not need to engage with the authority directly at any point.
"They dealt with it entirely. I just provided the documents they asked for and they handled the rest."
Challenge
A recently widowed client needed to establish her entitlement to her late husband's government pension, manage the transfer of his EPF balance, and deal with a separate insurance claim linked to the pension scheme — all while dealing with significant personal strain.
What we did
We took on the full matter under the Stewardship Package, acting as a single point of contact for all three streams: pension entitlement, EPF transfer, and the insurance claim. We managed all correspondence with the Pensions Division, EPF, and the insurer, and kept her informed with written updates at regular intervals.
Outcome
All three matters were resolved over a period of five months. The pension entitlement was confirmed, the EPF balance transferred, and the insurance claim settled in full. She was not required to attend any offices in person — all interactions were handled remotely or by the firm directly.
"Having one person who knew the whole picture made everything much less overwhelming. I didn't have to keep explaining the situation to different people."
